Volunteers The WK&S is managed and operated entirely by volunteers! Our volunteers provide their talent and countless hours of their time — not just during the operating season, but throughout the entire year. These helping hands perform many different jobs, including those that happen behind the scenes. Tasks range from cleaning coaches to maintaining equipment to keeping the grounds. While train fares and gift shop purchases have funded many of our improvements over the years, it's our volunteers who have provided all of the necessary labor to get the work done. Want to get involved? Whether or not you're a railroad enthusiast, volunteering here at WK&S is a great way to learn new skills, meet interesting new people, and have lots of fun! You'll experience a sense of pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment, and many studies have shown that volunteering is actually good for your overall health!
